Q. HOW DO WE OBTAIN AN ESTIMATE?
A. We require the following to provide you with an estimate:
Width & Height of the glass panels
Number & type of cut outs, holes ie: double socket cut outs & holes for plumbing
Q. DO YOU SUPPLY AND FIT?
A. Yes we do supply and fit and we find most customers choose this option, however if you would rather fit the glass panels yourself we can supply all setting blocks and adhesive that you will require and also provide you with support over the phone if you come up against any problems during installation.
Q. CAN WE GET ACTUAL SAMPLES OF THE COLOURED GLASS?
A. Yes we do supply actual samples of the glass, we normally provide you with an estimate from the sizes you have supplied and then once you have chosen a colour we will cut, polish and paint a sample and post or courier it out to you. We charge £25 inc Vat for the sample which is the cost to us but we deduct this from your final invoice if you proceed with the colour you had the sample in.
Q. WHERE CAN WE LOOK AT THE COLOUR RANGES AVAILABLE?
A. We direct people to the following website as they show the most used colour range (RAL)
http://www.e-paint.co.uk/RAL_Colourchart.asp
As well as the RAL colour range we can also match all B.S., Dulux and Farrow & Ball colours, we are also able to match to unique colour swatches that you may have.
Q. CAN THE GLASS BE SHAPED?
A. Glass can be cut to almost any shape but is subject to certain regulations when it goes through the toughening process (please call when designing your project for relevant glass toughening/processing guidelines), if you have glass behind the hob and to the left and right of the hob then the glass can be cut in an upside down “T” but this is labour intensive and would cost you more than joining 3 pieces of glass side by side, radius and curved glass can be produced, for example under a cooker hood.
Q. CAN I HAVE HOLES AND CUT OUTS IN THE GLASS?
A. Cut outs and holes in the glass are not a problem and are all done in house on our extensive glass machinery. (please call when designing your project for relevant glass toughening/processing guidelines).
Q. WILL THE GLASS BE HEAT RESISTANT AND SAFE
A. All our Coloursafe panels are toughened to B.S. 6206 (a) and as such are approx 5 times stronger than the un toughened glass of an equivalent thickness, toughened glass is heat resistant and as such is ok to use near heat sources such as behind the hob.
Q. DOES MY WALL NEED TO BE PERFECTLY FLAT?
A. The adhesive used to bond the glass to the wall will take up imperfections of up to approximately 6mm (1\4”). The wall needs to be sealed with either PVA or a coat of emulsion to stop the adhesive being absorbed in it.
Q. ARE THE GLASS EDGES SAFE?
A. All external edges are polished or ground to give a completely flat safe edge which also enables the glass to be butted very tightly up to one another.
Q. WHAT SIZE PANELS CAN BE PRODUCED?
A. We can produce glass with polished edges from 50mm x 50mm although this size is too small to be toughened, up to a maximum size of 3210mm x 2250mm although we would normally advise to split panels of this size.
